In this video Haas & Hahn do an amazing experiment on seeing how they can brighten a community with colors and art. They begin by going to a small town in Brazil and pick from three designs. The winning first design was a boy flying a kite, which made the news and was a big success.
The next project was that they planned to paint a Japanese fish on a hill, making it look like a river. This project took about 2 years. The two man spent those two years living in Rio, becoming good friends with all the people in the town. The people began to grow with the idea and wanted to do everything they can to help.
The next project was going to Philadelphia and doing the same thing by transforming a street into a giant patch work of color. This began to bring the community together and brighten up the places that once were very dull.
This project shows that you can work without a master plan and how things can flow into harmony. Also how colors can bring communities together. Lately I have had this growing passion for art but I wanted to find a way to have it impact peoples lives in a good, reflecting way. This was such a clever, unique idea to help influence people in a positive way. I now know how to transform a community with something so simple.
